Course 3: Analyzing ELL Data & Assessments
I found this course satisfying, knowing that I was making an assessment much more accessible to my students. I also felt like it made me much more familiar with the language demand of the unit. --Jen Rawlings, Teacher
The readings reminded me of many important points when it comes to assessing ELLs. While they are not necessarily new to me, I am reflecting on how I need to make a more conscious effort to communicate these ideas with other teachers in my building so that ELLs can get a fair opportunity to excel in learning. Elaine Chung, Teacher
These modules were absolutely wonderful. I learned so much, and it helped me connect how to use common core standards and the grade level writing rubric with the WIDA Performance Definitions to make my lesson planning and my teaching more intentional and focused on English Language Development! --Ann Taylor, Teacher
In order to equitably assess and address the needs of ELLs, educators must have a deep understanding of multiple data sources and how to use this data to improve instruction and assessment. In this interactive and engaging course held on Teaching Channel Plus, participants will learn and apply research-based strategies for analyzing ELL data and consider valid and reliable assessment design practices. Participants will generate content-specific fieldwork and a personalized "action cycle" implementation plan for new learning to immediately impact teaching practice and ELL learning outcomes.
